As a social worker and educator in the youth work field, I feel excited about the possible uses for this new Program for young females. Here we have a package generated by a young person that demonstrates current understanding of significant issues for young females, and is presented in a way that is professional and appealing to adolescents.

The program is immediately useable for any teacher, youth worker or counsellor, in either an individual or group work context.

Ruth Lewis-Jones’s experience in working with young people, and especially her creativity and eye for detail is evident throughout, making this kit different to other material available.

With its focus on the girls undertaking creative tasks, this program subtly walks them through difficult personal topics such as Discovery, Acknowledging and Overcoming.

In this way the opportunity is there for them to explore their thinking, potentially become more comfortable with themselves, and improve the chances of them positively engaging with the community around them.

The focus on giving to others and sharing personal knowledge is a refreshingly unique aspect to Esteem Designz Program, countering the sometimes unhelpful tendency for adolescents to be self absorbed.

I look forward to hearing about the innovative ways in which this Program has been used in the future.
